Minutes of the St. Clair County Fire Chiefs Association and MABAS Division 32

September 30, 2005

 

The September meeting was called to order by President Feher at 7:03pm.

 

President Feher introduced Jessica Blackford and Vicki Fraase with the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office NFIRS Division.  The OSFM is offering NFIRS 5.0 free of charge along with technical support for departments that do not currently use a version of NFIRS.    This includes training in Springfield for the program and then training at the department level. 

 

President Feher then introduced Barb Whitaker with the St. Clair County Health Department.  The county health department is planning a full scale drill for February 24th, 2006 for drug dispersement.  Kaitlyn Horn will be assisting to update personnel rosters for fire department members.  The health department is working with STARRS to put together a model.  They are also trying to set up teams to work individually with departments on the dispersments. 

 

UASI – The exercise for October 21st has been cancelled due to the deployments in Louisiana.  The building that was going to be used for the drill should still be available next spring, so the drill will be rescheduled for spring of 2006.

 

STARRS – There was a meeting on September 29, 2006 to update the mayors and police chiefs on STARRS.  STARRS has restructured itself.  The safety and security committee went away and has been replaced by an advisory committee who will recommend items to the full board.

 

Katrina Deployment – Lee Smith reviewed the occurrences of the deployment.  Personnel that went will be submitting receipts and the reimbursement policy is being worked out.

 

SWIC – The burn building at the training site is operational.  FFII will start this fall.

 

SCSESA – working on a building for housing equipment.  The organization is in need of members.  Anyone interested should contact SCSESA.

 

CENCOM – The new paging system is online.

 

ID System – The first batch of ID’s should be out in Illinois soon.

 

IEMA – Stan Krushas gave a report of his response to Gulfport Mississippi for a 16 day deployment for the hurricane.  Stan helped to set up and run unified command and control.

 

Scott AFB thanked the departments for their assistance with the training drill at took place last month.

 

The annual awards ceremony is scheduled for November 11th at Harris Stowe State College in St. Louis.

 

Chief Oaks passed out a questionnaire to inquire about a firefighter’s daytime response availability to assist other departments in the city they may work in. 

 

Mascoutah Fire department recently had one of their personnel seriously injured.  They will be holding fundraisers in the future to help with his financial concerns.

 

Treasurer’s report – an overview was given including the expenses for the hurricane deployment.  Some money will be reimbursed thru the state.

 

OSFM – Plaques are available for fire department personnel to recognize their years of service.  Contact Dan Bauer.

The chiefs meeting was adjourned at 8:56pm

 

The MABAS Division 32 meeting was called to order at 8:56pm. 

 

Discussion was held on money spent on the recent deployment by Lee Smith and East Side Fire Department.  Motion was made and seconded to reimburse Lee Smith $729.07 and East Side Fire Department $131.76.  Motion passed.

 

A thank you was forwarded to those who assisted in putting the deployment together.
