Minutes of the St. Clair County Fire Chiefs and MABAS Division 32 Meeting
May 26, 2005
President Feher called the chiefs meeting to order at 7:05pm.
President Feher introduced Tiffany Browder and Courtnie Hodges with the MDA. They spoke about different ideas for fund raising for this years MDA drive. More information can be obtained at www.mdausa.org.
President Feher then introduced Robb Watkins. Robb serves on the response committee for STARRS/UASI. Robb introduced UASI (Urban Area Security Initiative) of which the St. Louis Region is one of the top twenty sites in the US. Discussions were held concerning the proposal to develop a mobile incident management system trailer to train fire, police and ems personnel throughout the entire region.
President Feher highlighted some of the work that the Illinois Fire Service Caucus had been doing, and the progress they have made.
Special Emergency Services – The new pickup truck has been received and should be in service in a couple of weeks. Legislation has been introduced to help SCSESA and their status as emergency responders. SCSESA will be holding another fundraising raffle this year. They will raffle off a motorcycle again.
ESDA – CENCOM is scheduled to move to their new facility on July 12th. The CAD system is being reviewed by the attorney at this time. Should be online soon.
Greg Render gave an update on the STARRS budget and monies that are scheduled to be coming to Illinois counties.
Missouri has approved language to allow Missouri Region C to join MABAS Division 32.
MABAS Divisions 32 and 35(Madision Co.) have bee asked to participate in the statewide drill this fall. Letter has been sent to clarify some training questions concerning the drill.
SAFER Act grants will be starting in July – These will work like the COPS program. The grant will be for both career and volunteer fire departments.
SWIC – Construction meeting will be held tomorrow. Construction on the burn building will start soon. Bids will be going out for the offices/classroom. Work has begun on a fire service driver/operator program. The course should be available this fall.
Chief Kern reported on the Anti-Terrorism Committee. Chief Kern passed out a synopsis that he put together on the class he attended. The class was geared more toward law enforcement.
Treasurers Report – The report showed a balance in the chiefs account of $15,485.20 and $3.233.56 in the MABAS 32 account. Motion was made and seconded to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion passed.
Bill Claussen with East. St. Louis Fire Department received a scholarship from the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association.
Lee Smith is still working on proposed changes to the constitution. Will have draft available soon.
The chiefs meeting was adjourned at 9:20pm.
President Feher called the MABAS Division 32 meeting to order at 9:20pm.
Division 32 received correspondance from the Springfield Fire Department requesting MABAS 32 be on their box card for hazmat and technical rescue. The request will be forwarded to SCSESA for their approval.
Columbia EMS has been assigned MABAS radio numbers.
Monroe County EMS is now looking at joining MABAS.
MABAS 32 assisted the search for the missing girl in Lincoln County Missouri last month.
Nothing new was reported on the MABAS bylaws and dues structure. The next executive meeting will be July 9th at the Districts Conference.
